Are your stoves certified?The short answer is no, not yet. Although, there is information freely available for insuring uncertified woodstoves through the WETT system. This is touched on in more depth in the “Install” section on the site.
Can I install it myself?Yes! Details are outlined in the “Install” section on the site.
Is there any maintenance I should do for my stove?Yes! To cure the paint on a woodstove, use a gradual three-stage burning process: start with a small kindling fire and let it die. Progress to a medium fire and let it die. Finish with a normal operating fire, allowing complete cool-downs in between.
What kind of clearances are needed from combustables?In reference to WETT and CSA’s B365 document, I’ve outlined how to safely design a location in your space to meet the necessary requirements for your GW in the “Install” section of this site.
What kind of chimney should I use?I recommend using the 3” to 6” adapter I supply and a kit from Home Depot, as discussed int he “Install” section on the website. But you can also use 3” stainless pipe. Dickinson makes a good stainless version for boats, which I’ve used in the past. You should not use galvanized ducting as this creates toxic fumes.
Do you make custom projects?Yes, I’ve taken custom projects in the past. One specific example is doubling the size of the firebox to heat a larger space.
